Transformers: The Last Knight, movie review

Well. I’m not sure where to start with this one. There’s a rule where people say you shouldn’t put too many supernatural things into one book or movie because the plot gets hard to follow and people won’t find it relateable or realistic. This film decided to ignore that rule.

Now, I’m not a follower of the original Transformers lore, so I’m not sure if this came from that, or if this was really just made up by this current screen writer. Either way, it just didn’t work.

Somehow, transformers were connected to King Arthur and Camelot, ancient druids, Nazis, hidden conspiracies on “National Treasure” type level, and there’s blood magic, so only people of a certain decent can save us. There’s more too, I just can’t remember it all because it was so all over the place. I mean, half the world is now dystopian and the other half perfectly fine, how does no one see the split personality thing going on here?

The action is good, although it felt like the transformers were all moving through mud in slow motion. They walked faster in the other movies. The science is insane and beyond outrageous.

The acting is over the top. I mean, the actors know it’s a crazy movie, its like they just opted to be insane too and collect the paycheck.

The whole point of the movie is to market a new line of toys, but the monsters are so pointy and deadly, that the toys made after them look nothing like them, because uh, they would kill the kid. So… we sorta missed the mark on that one. Even I was seduced and would love a figurine of the three headed dragon, even though he only had five seconds of screen time. Does he exist in plastic? No, at least not in any manner that looks like him in the movie.

So, all in all, a giant flop. I’m not even sure I would recommend this to action movie junkies. Maybe if you want to stare at fancy cars for a while, this might be worthwhile for you… maybe.

Welcome to my blog! I live in Florida with my husband and our Kitty, a rescued Abyssinian. I have several novels published under the name "Nina Schluntz". I’m an avid movie goer, so most of my blog posts will be a review of the most recent movie I happened to see. Sometimes I’ll mix it up and read a book too. Or… my favorite, I’ll see the movie then read the book it was based on! View all posts by mizner13
