Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, movie review

So this was done by the same person who directed “The Fifth Element.” The world seemed similar to the society he created in that film and I found many similarities. The plot was good, its a nice little adventure that keeps your attention.

Where the movie failed to live up to success of “The Fifth Element” was the casting. There was no Bruce Willis, Chris Tucker, or Gary Oldman, and those guys made “The Fifth Element” what it was. The actors in “Valerian” had no chemistry with each other. They were mostly emotionless robots, and the romance was just unbelievable. The aliens had more acting ability.

If you want to see some action and great special effects, this is a good film to see. But the acting is horrible.

The Emoji Movie, movie review

A cute movie, geared mostly for kids. I heard several of them laughing during the film. A few jokes had delayed laughter as it required a bit of thinking to realize what was happening. The plot was a bit predictable. Of course the Emoji who is different than everyone else is going to change his mind about removing his ability and then save the day.

But the film was entertaining and short enough that it’s a perfect flick to see with the kiddos.
