The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, movie review

The first movie, “The Nut Job” was actually the first movie I ever reviewed on my blog. So of course I had to see the sequel and come full circle on this series.

The movie is now centered on the animals protecting their park. Things go to wild extremes, but we do take some time to learn back stories on a few of the characters and its nice to see them develop a bit more. Some of the lines are stolen from other things, and not all that original. I guess the movie makers were hoping having an animals say it would add enough new zing that no one would care.

Overall its entertaining, I laughed a few times, but again, like I said about the first movie, majority of it is predictable, and the younger crowd is likely to enjoy it far more than adults.

Spiderman: Homecoming, movie review

A different take on the spider man movies for sure. What makes this one different is the focus on Peter’s real life. He’s a normal kid going to school. He even gets a best friend, who really makes the difference. We can all see a bit of ourselves, or relate to someone like his friend. His world seems real, and it makes the supernatural parts work all the better.

The ties to the other movies are minimal. So if you haven’t seen the other marvel movies, but want to see spider man, you can, and you won’t be lost.

Great acting, great effects, well told story, overall I have no complaints. It’s a great movie, so if you haven’t seen it yet, I suggest you do!

War for the Planet of the Apes, movie review

So… I should have done a refresher with the other Ape movies before I saw this one. I hadn’t realized how much they would all tie together. I barely remember the others, because they are spread out so much. The main ape is the same, and the focus of the film is almost entirely on him.

We see the end of the humans coming, as they are losing their ability to speak and think in a higher form. And more apes are gaining the higher thought processes and speech. The trailers didn’t portray this well. The movie was more about this transition, than it was a battle between the crazed general, whom even the remaining humans are against.

Overall it is a good movie, on par with the previous Ape movies
