I’m not a huge fan of Amy Schumer. Despite the popularity of it, I actually disliked “Trainwreck.” I felt they were dressing her in clothes too small for her size and by the end of the movie was able to stomach seeing so much thigh. But, the trailers and a few sneak peaks made this movie look good. So I put aside my bias and went. Even most of the reviews warned me not to go.
And I am glad I went. The movie is not vulgar like some say. At least, compared to most comedies made these days, I found it very clean. Yeah, the tapeworm was a bit over the top. And there was some cheap slapstick, like having a woman’s boob showing, but the joke made out of it worked okay.
There is a plot, the chemistry between Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn is what makes the film work. There aren’t many mother daughter movies, especially ones that star nearly no males. To me, the movie was a good comedy and worth seeing for a few jokes. And yes, Amy Schumer dressed much more appropriately in this movie.
